Tom has been an integral part of SMC’s success for over 14 years. He utilizes his experience in the insurance industry in his dual roles as President of SMC Insurance Agency and President of SMC Business Councils. Because of his solid background in, and understanding of, employee benefits and financial services, Tom is able to offer the very best insight and direction to his staff, ensuring the highest quality of service is being given to Pennsylvania businesses.
As President of SMC Insurance Agency, Tom has developed exceptional relationships with insurance carriers. This has led to better rates for businesses and lower proposed rate increases, benefit enhancements, and additional plan options. Tom’s keen business sense allows him to see things from the business owner’s perspective. He is adept at determining the types of insurance needed and ensuring clients receive the right amount of coverage at the right rate.
Also, Tom has worked to establish SMC Business Councils as a viable source of support and advocacy for small business entrepreneurs, and currently serves as the association’s President. Because of his dual role, Tom connects businesses with experts in insurance, accounting, human resources, law, and many other fields.
Active in many organizations, Tom is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters and represents SMC Business Councils on the board of the National Small Business Association in Washington, D.C.
Tom served as a non-comissioned officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, and graduated with honors from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Finance. Today, Tom still serves the university as a volunteer Alumni mentor.
